My niece, Robin, requested that I post a blog on the subject of demons. They are fallen angels. When God created angels is not known; but, it is known that God created everything good because God, in His holiness, cannot create something sinful. So when Satan, who was once the angel Lucifer, rebelled against God and was cast from heaven (Isaiah 14; Ezekiel 28), one third of the angelic host fell with him (Revelation 12:3-4.9). These fallen angels are now known as demons.
Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels, according to Matthew 25:41: “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlaqsting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” From this and similar verses, it is clear that demons and fallen angels are synonymous.
Demons can influence a child of God, but cannot possess him. The Bible says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (I John 4:4)
The Word of God also says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
If a Christian will stay close to God, he need not fear the devil or demons. They will flee or run from the child of God as he resists them in the power of the Holy Spirit.
